In a world of constant motion and screens, overstimulation has quietly become part of our daily rhythm. We rarely pause to slow down, to breathe between transitions of day and night. *Unwind Reset* was born from this question:
“Can an ambient object gently remind us to pause, to unwind as the day begins and ends?”
The piece uses an ESP32 paired with a continuous servo to create slow, rhythmic motion, while NeoPixel LEDs bring about a soft transition between sunrise and sunset through shifting light gradients. Live API calls are used to fetch real-time data, which directly informs and triggers the servo’s movement allowing the object to stay in sync with actual environmental transitions. Encased in a 3D-printed form, the object becomes a quiet, ambient presence, subtly guiding users to reconnect with moments of pause.
